Nissan characterizes it as a “big little car,” and we believe that’s a perfect description of the Nissan Versa. This is a subcompact vehicle that’s big on roominess and value. When you step inside, you’ll be amazed at just how spacious the Nissan Versa really is. It’s also one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the road today. The Nissan Versa represents a whole new direction in the subcompact vehicle market. Who says a subcompact car can’t be fun? Who says they can’t be stylish? Who says they can’t offer lots of room on the inside? It’s definitely not Nissan. The Versa provides all these elements at a price point that will leave no doubt who the new king of subcompact cars is.

The 2018 Nissan Versa is powered by a 1.6-liter I-4 and can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The trunk is extremely generous and with the SV trim and can be expanded even more with the standard 60/40 split-folding rear seats.
Nissan launched the Versa into the North American market in mid-2006 positioning it as an all-new 2007 model. The subcompact car benefitted from some fortuitous timing upon its launch, as gas prices skyrocketed during the immediate time following its introduction. Subcompact cars became red hot sellers and dealers couldn’t keep vehicles like the Versa on their lots for very long. The Versa was a unique offering in this market segment as it sported a rather large interior compared to what most subcompact vehicles offered at the time. The Nissan Versa sold very well during its initial years and was the recipient of numerous industry awards.
The factory quickly expanded trim level options on the Versa from two to five based on consumer feedback and brisk Versa sales. In 2011, Nissan completely redesigned the Versa subcompact car. Significant exterior and interior styling revisions, increased fuel economy, and new engine options were the most notable changes for this all-new Versa model. Nissan made it a point to keep the Versa’s price point low, as it benefitted from being one of the most affordable subcompact sedans available on the market.
Nissan has continued to make various improvements to the Versa over the years and is tentatively expected to release the third generation of the Versa for the 2018 model year.
